A question we get so often online… it depends. The answer is that a pedigree puppy with the breeder registration documents and a pedigree certificate will cost more than a puppy resulting from an accidental mating. You’ll be paying not for paperwork, you’ll know that you’re buying from a reputable, professional and responsible breeder who takes every care with breeding, rearing and the welfare of his dogs: you’ll be sure that the puppy has been health checked, taken to breed shows, training courses, passed tests and a lot of other work has been done to make him physically and mentally healthy and happy. Breed showing, contrary to what most people think, is neither a whim of dog breeders nor a trick, it’s for judging pedigree dogs against the breed standard and finding the dog nearest to the ideal characteristics for that breed. 15 October 2015
